CURRENT PROJECT STATUS:
• 1 YELLOW LiPO battery dead. Maj Hartig will dispose of because of gas buildup in battery pack. DONE.
• 2 BLUE LiPO charging, assumed OK.
• 1 YELLOW LiPO, status unknown. Team to attempt to charge and report status.
• Airframe and Control Systems (Request to AEOs as needed parts and tools to complete MILESTONE #1).
a) Servos and control electronics locked down and tidied upb) Airframe panels repaired, cleaned up and installed.c) Ascertain if tail skid is adequate for taxi and soft field operations.
MILESTONE #1 (STATUS TO BE REPORTED 1 FEB 2017)
• ENGINE operational with remote control box.• CONTROL SURFACES buckled down and operational with remote control box.
MILESTONE #2
• Plan and conduct slow speed TAXI tests in drill hall (w/permission of base commander) or outside if weather permits. Maybe at Trout Brook in conjunction with rocket launching exercise.• Contact Quinapoxet R/C club for mentorship assistance.• Contact NHQ to make sure we are FAA legal. I registered the UAV with them back a year or so ago.
MILESTONE #3
• Contact MIT AeroAstro dept and arrange to take UAV down for wind tunnel aerodynamics and weight and balance (CG). AEOs will aid in this effort.
MILESTONE #4
• High speed taxi, short takeoff and landing handling in off airport (Trout Brook) environment. Prepare and review plan with AEOs.
MILESTONE #5 if we hit 1-4
• FIRST FLIGHT
Provides hands on exposure to STEM
through the construction and flight of a scale MQ-9 Predator UAV
